SOLIDWORKS TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNER EXERCISE-001 | APPLICATION OF EXTRUDED BOSS & EXTRUDED CUT

Welcome to CAD MAFIA, the ultimate channel for mastering SolidWorks! In this brand-new video, SolidWorks Exercise-001, we explore two fundamental tools: Extruded Boss/Base and Extrude Cut. These essential features are key to creating and modifying 3D models in SolidWorks, and in this tutorial, we'll walk you through step-by-step on how to use them effectively. Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, this exercise will help you build a strong foundation in 3D modelling. Join us at CAD Mafia and enhance your SolidWorks knowledge with clear, practical demonstrations. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more valuable tips and tutorials!

EXERCISE-001

1. Create a New Part File

  1. Open SolidWorks and create a new part file.

2. Draw the Base Profile

  1. Sketch the Base Rectangle:

    • Open a sketch on the Top Plane.
    • Draw a rectangle with dimensions 107 mm x 48 mm.
  2. Add Fillets:

    • Apply R2 mm fillets to all corners of the rectangle.
  3. Extrude the Base:

    • Extrude the rectangle to a height of 25 mm.

3. Add the Cut for the Curved Notch

  1. Sketch the Circular Cut:

    • Open a sketch on the front face.
    • Draw a semicircle with a 30 mm radius, centered at the middle of the base width.
  2. Cut Extrude:

    • Use the Extruded Cut tool to cut the semicircle through the entire base.

4. Create the Upper Platform

  1. Sketch the Top Platform:

    • Open a sketch on the Top Plane.
    • Draw a rectangle with dimensions 43 mm x 48 mm, positioned centrally over the base.
  2. Extrude the Platform:

    • Extrude the platform to a height of 13 mm.
  3. Add Fillets:

    • Apply R2 mm fillets to the edges of the platform.

5. Add the Holes

  1. Drill the Two Circular Holes:

    • On the top surface of the upper platform, sketch two holes with a 10 mm diameter. Position them 22 mm apart and centered symmetrically.
  2. Cut Extrude the Holes:

    • Use the Extruded Cut tool to drill through the platform.
  3. Drill the Center Hole:

    • Create a 5 mm diameter hole centered on the platform and cut it through the base.

6. Add the Rounded Grooves

  1. Sketch the Groove on the Side:

    • On the front face of the base, sketch a slot with a 13 mm radius and a width of 24 mm, positioned 4 mm from the bottom edge.
  2. Cut Extrude the Groove:

    • Use the Extruded Cut tool to create the groove.
  3. Mirror the Groove:

    • Use the Mirror Tool to replicate the groove on the opposite side of the base.

7. Final Touches

  1. Apply Material:

    • Choose a material to apply for the desired appearance or simulation.
  2. Check Dimensions:

    • Use the Measure Tool to verify all dimensions match the drawing.
  3. Save the Part:

    • Save your part file.
